Role overview
- To deliver high quality IELTS teaching and admin services to students registered in the British Council’s IELTS Preparation Courses.
Duties
- Teaching: The minimum contract for an Hourly Paid Teacher is one class for one term (4.5 or 6 clock hours a week depending on the course assigned). It is possible to be assigned more classes, depending on demand.
- Cover: You may be asked to cover for a teacher. You will be paid at the ‘Teaching Hourly Rate’ for every clock hour worked.
- Development: You will be required to participate in the British Council’s teacher development programme, including IELTS Teacher Training Course and in-service development workshops.
- Admin Duties: You will be required to prepare and deliver progress reports, record of work done, and formative assessment results within given time frames.
How to apply
To be considered, you must hold a Bachelor’s degree, must be qualified with either a Cambridge CELTA or an MA in TEFL, have at least 2 years post-qualification teaching experience and demonstrate English proficiency at C2 level. Teachers who have the experience of sitting the IELTS test are strongly preferred. Also Diploma qualified candidates i.e. Cambridge DELTA/Trinity DipTESOL holders are preferred.
IELTS examiners are not eligible to apply for this position.

Candidates have to obtain:
- a recent, satisfactory and clear DBS check at Enhanced status or a local equivalent
- a permit to live and work in Armenia
- three satisfactory references
Note: The shortlisted candidates will be asked to do a language test (upon necessity) before the interviews. The interviews will be held in January 2016. Successful candidates will need to attend an intensive IELTS Teacher Training in February to start teaching in March 2016.
