The Future English Project Online Teacher Community (OTC) – a peer-led online platform for English language teachers – launched in 2021 and ran until 2025.
The platform offered a unique, borderless, digital home for thousands of English language teachers across the region, where they could meet each other, share experience and knowledge, access synchronous and asynchronous learning and document their development in a safe space facilitated by trained facilitators.
The platform also enabled teachers to gain integrated access to relevant British Council and other UK ELT sector resources and discuss and share innovation and issues through small and larger communities of practice. These included Special Interest Groups (SIGs) which allowed the teachers to connect with teachers from all participating countries to deepen their knowledge of a particular area.
The OTC platform was available only to state school teachers and the working language was English.
What began as an online platform, quickly became something far greater – a vibrant community of practice, where ideas travelled freely, friendships were formed and professional development became a shared adventure rather than a solitary task.
The Online Teacher Community (OTC) project took us on a remarkable journey that began in 2021 and touched the professional lives of more than 1,500 English language teachers and 200 student-teachers across Armenia.
